Semi annual link cleaning

Filed under: General; Author: Dink; Posted: July 9, 2007 at 1:14 am;

It’s time to clean up my blogroll. Some old ones to remove. Some new ones to post.

Time to review why I like to visit some of these sites, and why not some of the others.

It’s also a good time to introduce some new ones I have found.

The blogroll is for that huge number of folks who have this site in their feed reader (thanks to all six of you. heh), to the regular visitors, and for me.

I visit most of the sites from my links here. So, it’s natural to have the ones I visit the most right under my mouse button.

I don’t use the feed readers much. I like to see a site. See what is new in design. See which ads are or are not running.

Now where to begin? I’ll start with the ones which I’m dropping. Followed by the ones I’ll continue to enjoy. Finally, I’ll add the new ones.

Goodbye

Sites which don’t seem as interesting as they once did:

  • DaveN
  • Black Hat SEO
  • Stepforth SEO
  • SEO Egghead
  • TheGoogleCache
  • Graywolf
  • Shoemoney
  • Jim Boykin

These sites don’t resolve for me:

  • Pygmalion
  • mitemous

More slanted toward the pro SEO (which I’m not):

  • Stuntdubl
  • SEOmoz

No longer updated:

  • SEO Stomping Grounds

Special cases:

  • Threadwatch. Lots less signal. No noise at all. Deadsville, dudes.
  • Esrun. Has been having some problems with hackers and such. Stephen, ping me when you’re back up so I can add you back.

Keepers

  • Link Building Interesting reading and some different approaches to the art of link building. Worth visiting on a regular basis.
  • Aaron Walls One of my old standbys. Still going and going. Like the ‘Battery Bunny’ on US tv commercials.
  • Spam2.0 A friend of mine who is a very talented coder (he built YACG) and a dedicated blackhatter. And besides that I get an awful lot of traffic from his sites.
  • Blue Hat SEO This is one that I’m interested in. Eli always has something that gives me ideas. I don’t agree with all that he says (or does), but there are a lot of “AhA” moments when I visit his site.
  • Boogybonbon Good sound advice, interesting discussions, and he’s a coder. He wrote the very excellent Wordze application. Need I say more?
  • SEO Idiot Paul is another friend of mine. He has some sound advice for any blackhatter (read his story about Google slapping him). Also makes some neat cartoons. And takes a joke well too. (heh)
  • SEO Blackhat Not the resource that it once was (before the paid forum), but still has a huge amount of useful stuff in the archives. Good, sound, marketing ideas too.
  • Pilkster I like this blog. He updates almost as often as I do. LOL. Some useful and insightful info there.
  • G-Man A different read. It has some things that no one else has thought to include. Keeps me on my toes.
  • Sndk8.net The oldest, biggest, baddest, and best blackhat forum there is. My home away from this home.

New ones:

  • ThreadWatcher A replacement for TW that holds promise. It’s worth watching for a while.
  • FantomNews Not really a new blog, it’s just been renewed after the author took an extended break. They keep a sharp eye on the horizon and often report things before it’s common knowledge. It’s a shame the affiliate program is on hold.
  • SEO Theory This is as close to ‘Secret Sauce’ as I’ll likely ever give out. If you want to do better with your SEO efforts; if you want your link practices to pay off better; if you want to be ahead of 99% of the ‘others’ in the SEO game; go read the blog.

That’s about all for this time. Stay tuned as next week we’ll learn how to make onion soup with a river rock and a small green leech.

I’ve started reading alt.internet.search-engines recently, just to see if it’s any good.

I find really great seo blogs from using a blog search like google blogsearch, using their feeds:
    http://mikesmoneymakingmission.blogspot.com/
    http://seonirupam.blogspot.com/
    http://hamletbatista.com/

    Dink,

I just learned about your blog from my referral stats. I can say that at least my blog is not one of m1t0s1s ;-)

  10. Comment by Dink

This little blog isn’t known for much traffic Hamlet. Glad you’re getting some referrals.

I was poking fun at m1t0s1s. We visit some at other places.

Drat! Upgraded and forgot to upload the “do follow” plugin. Sorry Google. It’s fixed now :)

    Hey Dink

Not sure what I did (or didn’t) do to deserve the listing, but thanks anyway.

    Yours lazily, pilks
